Every time we hear about Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, one thing that comes to mind is that they’re one of Tinseltown’s most enduring couples. The celebrity couple first crossed paths on the set of a TV show. At the time, the Forrest Gump star was still married to his college sweetheart, Samantha Lewes, but he couldn’t deny that he felt sparks when he first saw Wilson. After dealing with lawyers for his separation from his first wife, Hanks began dating the Mamma Mia! actress. They tied the knot on April 30, 1988, and welcomed two kids together.

The couple’s love and commitment to each other are just so inspiring. Defying the odds, the two are now in their 33rd year of marriage. Any Hollywood veteran knows that is a long time. Hanks once said of their enduring marriage: “I wish there was a secret (but) we just like each other.”
